Wow...quiet. I'll start. Saw improvement last night. That's what I was looking for.
I feel the calls were a little better than last week. Part of new DC/OC learning the job. We need to counter what people are doing on our RPO game and figure out a way to get some guys open over the middle.
Still would like to see some blitzes. The DL had more pressure but they're not quite getting there. The injuries in the secondary really hurt last night. I hope these guys can get back quickly or it may be a rough go on defense.
You can see the rust is still being knocked off. They won so it is less-painful. As long as they keep improving, I'm ok.
Swift is a beast.
Smith is a beast (small one but a beast).

That is pretty much my take on last night's game. Better but the Eagles are not quite there yet.
My biggest complaint was the play calling when the Eagles had the ball in the 4th, 1st and 10 on the Min 25. They are in FG range at that point and a FG would have put the game out of reach for Min. The run game had been dominate all night so what do the Eagles do on 1st and 10? Throw a pass which resulted in a TD being called back due to a holding penalty. I have no problem with taking that shot. Now it is 1st and 20 on the 35. Still in FG range. They call a pass which was incomplete. 2 and 20, another pass, Hurts is sacked. 3rd and 22, still in FG range, Hurts is sacked again. Now they are on the Min 49 and out of FG range.
I just don't understand why you do not continue to run in that situation. The worse case scenario is that you get stuffed on 3 downs then kick the FG and put the game out of reach for the Vikings while simultaneously bleeding the clock. That moment indicated to me that Johnson still has some learning to do as a play caller. Hopefully he learns from it.
The defense got lit up through the air but it is tough to gauge them when by the end of the game Slay was the only starter left in the secondary. Hopefully the rest of the secondary heals over the next 10 days and everyone is ready for TB.
And yes, Swift was a beast last night. I took a flyer on him late in my fantasy draft and he paid off last night.

I took a flyer on him late in my fantasy draft and he paid off last night. Totally agree. I'll NEVER understand why--in situations like that--why you'd even TRY to pass when they hadn't stopped them for a small gain (forget no gain or a loss) on a running play all game. If they can't stop your run, why put the ball in the air? So many more things can go wrong. I get it, you want to keep them guessing but, when they KNOW you're running (like most of the game) and they still can't stop you, why would you go away from the run until they show they can stop you? And, if you're going to pass, PLEASE stop with the shotgun and do a REAL play action. It will open the middle WIDE open for Brown or Goedert to come across and pick up 7-10 yards (or more) every time. I mean, I'm just a stupid fan, just don't understand why these coaches always try to be smarter than the other guy. When you have road graders for offensive lineman, let them do their thing!

I feel like this is something I would've said about Andy Reid in 2002. Clock management is more about math than having a learning curve. I'm more concerned with the called runs for Hurts. He needs to use his legs to be as effective as possible, but can they stop running him between the hash marks to get blasted by linebackers?

I agree about the run game.
Hurts is running much slower, I t,think on purpose and trying to be careful.
He refuses to step up into the pocket to avoid the rush. Always exiting stage right.
I understand teams have adjusted how to play us and we need to adjust back.
They are playing a shell coverage against us with many DBs playing back. Hurts looks a little confused.
Besides running the ball li,ke we have been doing, I would use 7 yard button hooks and outs in front of the defense as they have clogged up the slants and longer patterns.
Goedert and Brown could have abused those routes if other WR clear out the zones with fly patterns from the slots.
At 2-0 after 2 games, were ahead of where the odds would have us after two games.
I’ll take it.
The injuries are piling up a little too much right now, Hopefully we get some healthy reinforcement.
Nice long 11 day period to get rested and healthy and fine tune game plans.
