My understanding is that when we run that RPO with Hurts, it is still perfectly legal to hit him every time regardless of whether he keeps it or hands it off.
Why doesnt our opposition blow him up every RPO early in the season so that we know if we run that, we’re going to get him hit hard every time? Short term pain for opponents for long term gain.
Im shocked that no one has done that yet.
Remember the House of Pain when Houston kept on sending those small WR across the middle to get blown up by our DB’s (back when it was legal). We yelled out, “you’re going to get your guys killed” and they stopped.
I would think a similar strategy by our opponents would have an effect.

I thought the QB had to be a potential/perceived runner. Just because he's a threat to run on a given play doesn't make him fair game ... does it? Does play action count?
