6th round pick, #188, Tanner McKee, QB, Stanford = A
He was ranked 148 in the compilation and was ranked as the 7th best QB in the draft. We got him as the 13th QB selected. So a +40 value, along with position value too!
Once I eliminate the positions of need that we no longer have need for (either pre-draft, or after the previous five picks in this draft, or the trade for Swift) the best available at positions of need in this spot is rather thin:
#88 WR A.T. Perry
That’s it!
It’ not hard to prioritize a QB over a WR, especially since there will be a lot of veteran WR’s hitting the market soon for us to pick up with a preseason signing or trade.
Interestingly, Pro football focus love this guy. They had him ranked 37! Other five sources were much more subdued: 97,128,204,227,299.
NFL.com project him as a backup, so nothing special in that regard.
I need to check the tape to see what type of QB he is. Is he a dual threat or a pocket QB? Given our offense, it may be best if he is a dual threat so we can limit changes to our offense if he ever has to play. That was an issue for Minshew last year and with Mariota it won’t be.
Real good value.

Very much a pocket QB, which should impact your grading.

McKee sounds like Foles to me.

They say he has an accurate strong arm.
Fingers crossed
