The Eagles traded their 2nd round pick, #62 to Houston for the 65th pick and a 6th round and 7th round pick (#188 & #230).
As a part of jerkoff Gannon being tampered with, we were able to pick swap with ARI as compensation and moves up from the bottom of the 3rd to near the top at #66. We had back-to-back picks.
3rd round pick, #65 Tyler Steen, OT, Alabama = D
This was a reach here by the Eagles. He was ranked 89th in the compilation and we selected him 65th. There were eighteen higher prospects available at this spot. The top four on the board at this time were:
#31 ILB D. Sanders (picked by DEN at #67)
#34 TE D. Washington
#39 CB K. Ringo (more about him later)
#42 WR J. Downs
Either of these four would have been much higher rated picks. Walter Football was the outlier and had Steen rated the 33rd best prospect. The other five sources had him at 80, 106, 128, 133 and 147. An unfortunate reach. If we’re locked into an OT here, D. Jones (49th best) and B. Freeland (89th best) were both available and both consistently rated a higher prospect than Steen.
NFL.com has him projected as a good backup who could become a starter at some point. Too many better guys there. Stout is a Bama guy so maybe there is some connection there. He will make him better than most.

I think it's been reported and should be assumed that Stout is intimately involved in scouting and selecting OL. Being a founding DKD, I'd think his input would be important in valuing the pick.

If anyone can turn a rock into a diamond, it's Stout.
