We traded a 2025 4th Round pick plus swapped 7th round picks this year going from 219 to 249 to get Swift.
He's a St. Joes Prep alum and a local kid.
He was a 2nd round pick, has 4.48 speed and makes 1.77 M on the last year of his four year rookie deal.
His game in the opener last year was his bet game when he almost beat us.
Truth of what he is, is a part time share the load back.
He's been healthy for 40 of 49 games in his career and has started 16 of the 40.
He's averaged 9 carries a game with an impressive 4.6 YPC, averages 4 catches a game for 30 rec yards per game, for about 72 total yards per game.
If he gives us 10 carries per game, sharing the load with the other three RB's, he will be a faster change of pace back
Sanders gave us 17 touches a game. About half of them will go to Penny and half to Swift, with Scott and Gainwell sharing the leftovers.
At first blush, the 4th round cost seems high, however, the present value of a 4th round pick from 2025 is more closely a th-6th round today.
Not a bad deal. We're a more complete team.

Helps address the lack of a receiving back threat, good set of hands. Injury is of course the big query on him but a shared workload across 4/maybe 5 backs should help both him & Penny.

Has there been any word from Swift about the trade? I haven't seen anything, and I'd think there would be reporters reaching out to him to get a reaction. Could he be unhappy Detroit dumped him? Maybe coming home doesn't ring the bell for him.
Anyone?

A lot of people are pointing to Swift's history of injuries as a cause for concern. There is a negligible differnce between Sanders and Swift. Swift has played in 40 games over the past 3 seasons. Sanders has played in 41.
I just don't see a drop off from the availability of Sanders to the availability of Swift.

I'd add that we're not counting on Swift to be our starting RB as we have good alternatives. So fewer carries will reduce any risk of injury and we're well covered if any of our RBs get hurt.

I would think relative to his situation in DET, Philly is a god send. We'll probably hear something soon.
