Not trying to brag, just shocked at how well the ENTIRE team played last night. Wow! They made it look easy.
They were flying to the ball on defense. Weren't playing soft.
Hurts looked sharp. Offensive line looked good. Even special teams was good.
If they can bring this next week they'll be fine no matter whom they play.
Probably the most stress-free Eagles game in my life.

Any Gannon-haters want to chime in?
That may have been the most stress-free playoff game ever for me too. The Minnesota NFCCG a few years ago was pretty easy too.

Gannon (finally) coached a complete game (as did Siriani/Seichen). This is what happens when you don't sit back allowing 5+yard catches all day.

You could see early they were playing man on a more regular basis esp & not sitting back waiting to get gashed on 3rd downs. What a difference it makes.

You're both haters who just don't want to admit how dead wrong you are - that's ok, I've been a Philly sports fan for 40 years and am well used to it. But that doesn't change the fact that they played the same way as they did all year, resulting in the #1 passing defense in football.
Sometimes they pressed, often they didn't, and often they switched coverages pre-snap. As they have all year.

If you watch the video of the game the other night versus video of, oh say, the Saints or the Cowboys game, you'll see they did not, in fact, play the same way. They were NOT sitting off 5-10yards off the receivers. That is all most of us have asked for from Gannon. Why is it, whenever someone criticizes someone else it automatically makes you a hater. I guess I'm a hater on my kids since I tell them what they do wrong all of the time...

Or is it more likely that he came into the game with the same general approach that got us 14-3, the #1 seed, and the #1 passing defense in the league? There's also highlight videos that will prove you wrong of course, if you care to look, not that it matters. You simply don't want to admit you're wrong. It's childish and lame. I can't speak to what your kids are doing for you to correct them, but I assume it's because they've done something wrong. As opposed to the DC who leads the #1 passing defense in the league, despite your objections to his approach. You're labeled a "hater" because you've been trashing him all year long, despite his success. Our fan base is full of them, anyone who isn't named Buddy Ryan or Jim Johnson gets shit on. It's annoying, stupid, and old. I looked up some old posts and you did the exact same thing with Jim Schwartz. And if we should have a bad game next week you'll be crowing about how he needs to be fired. Grow up.

Ok, you can call the many fans who have complained about the same thing with him since he got here haters but you are absolutely looking at him through rose-colored glasses. You hang your hat on just the stats because they back up your argument. However, you refuse to admit, every time this defense has struggled, it's been because he's not pressed enough on the receivers. In fact, they were quoting the stats about how much better they are when they press and how horrible they are when they are not...all while they were losing the game to the Saints for that very reason. So yeah, you can make jokes about me being a hater, etc. That's fine. But I will admit when Gannon does well--like this past weekend--you, OTOH won't admit Gannon has shit the bed at times. But go ahead and wrap yourself in the stats. I only hope he doesn't do this crap this week. Will be a looooong game if he does.

Yes, I'm wrapped up in stats and results, which are all that matters when analyzing an athlete or coach's performance. Thanks for acknowledging that. Yes, our fan base is full of morons who have made Angelo Cataldi rich - we've gone over this. It's a thing in Philly to shit on any DC not named Buddy Ryan or Jim Johnson. Half of our fan base hates the best QB we've ever had. It's what we do - for all the fun it is being a Philly sports fan, you have to deal with the large portion of our idiot fan base that will hate or love someone because of how "tough" they play or act, regardless of actual results. It's maddening. Our approach was similar to every game they've played this season. It will be the same on Sunday. Deal with it.

Dude, you are literally the ONLY person who is trying to claim they did nothing wrong on defense this past game. When everyone around you is saying one thing, and you're then only person saying otherwise, maybe you are the one who is mistaken.... EVERYONE who has watched the Eagles this season--except for you--admits they have played soft in games. When they have played soft, they have struggled (and lost a game or two because of it). I mean, they only keep bringing up the same stats showing how the defense plays so much better when they do, in fact, press, versus when they do NOT press. But yeah, wrap yourself in those stats and ignore what is literally happening in front of your eyes. They absolutely played a more pressing defense the other day. Again, YOU are the only person who refuses to admit it. It's not just me--or some of the moronic fans we have (yes I agree we have some idiot fans but this isn't a case of that). Just because you refuse to admit it doesn't mean it didn't happen...

On a macro level, it's a portion of our dumbass fan base vs. normal fans. Are you 6 years old or something? It's the #1 passing defense in the NFL, with a historically good pass rush. None of your whining and ranting will change that. And obviously Gannon didn't change his gameplan out of nowhere. Again, grow up.

I'm talking about what is happening in a game. You need to grow up a bit. They're right up there against the run, too, right? Well, when you're ahead all of the time, opponents don't run as much so, does it really mean they're THAT good at stopping the run or does it have something to do with the fact that they are playing from ahead most of the time? Guess I've got to explain why stats don't tell the whole story. I never said the defense sucks. I've said they tend to play not a lot of press coverage. Hell, even Gannon himself says this because it's to stop the big play. But, when you let teams take 15-18 play drives it wears your defense down and keeps your offense off the field. Has it happened EVERY game? No. But they did this against Washington in their first loss, most of the game against Dallas the 2nd time (a loss) AND did it against NO (ironically, a loss). Not like they weren't talking about it--and citing the stats as to WHY it's not working--during those broadcasts. But yeah, I guess nobody else knows what they're talking about right? SMH... And what whining or ranting am I doing? I have only said, they need to play a pressing defense--like they just did--or we play right into what EVERY team trying to beat the Eagles has been doing. And, since ALL 3 losses can be blamed (at least partly on that type of defense), well, yeah, it's a bit of a worry. You seem to think just because someone doesn't agree with YOUR opinion, they MUST be a hater. You quote stats--only the ones which back up what you're saying but refuse to acknowledge other stats showing what many of us are saying. But again, I guess EVERYONE else is wrong and YOU'RE right...

The disgraceful election of Scott Rolen to the Hall of Above Average has really taken up my time this week. I would argue that I've spent more times debating simple sports topics with retards on the internet than I ever have before in a 2-day timeframe, which is saying quite a lot. Time to cut some dead weight in that regard.

I am laughing hysterically at this. Part of the defense's success in the passing game is the unreal line play and number of sacks and pressures. That being said it is laughable to say that Gannon has not been guilty of being scared of big time WRs and playing off them in some games. If you want proof look at Reuben Frank's articles after games, particularly after the dallas game where Dallas was something like 27-27 against zone coverage. The reality is that Gannon loves zone but either he or, more likely, Sirianni opted for more man when doable. I am a life long Eagles fan and I love and use stats whenever I can but I can't ignore the list of QBs they held under 200 yards passing on the way to allowing the fewest yards in the air.
Wentz, Lawrence (early), Rush, Pickett, Mills, Hieneke, Ryan, Tannehill, Fields....not a murderer's row.
The reality is that when they play man they fare much better. It just so happens that Gannon hates man because he fears the deep ball or any chunk play. You can say he has done a good job overall while still admitting that he has made mistakes, some so bad that Sirianni actually addressed it after 2 different games.

This is fair - I'm talking about the non-stop hate going back to last year. By the way, Reuben Frank wrote an article addressing the irrational hate from fans, and how Gannon gets the most out of his low-level talent that he had (in 2021) - now it's season 22-23 and we have a historically good pass rush. Does he not get credit for the pressure schemes? Our personnel is better this year, but they're also in a superior system. For the record, I prefer when we press and play man. I think Gannon would say that with our pass rush, he'd rather force short passes. But the results are there. The Dallas game was a debacle and we were missing our MVP - otherwise, the passing defense gave up 250 yards to Kyler Murray, and the next highest was like 221. All other games were below that. I don't care who you are, that's impressive as hell for any defense in this era.

Just because a set of numbers say you are doing ok at something, eg pass D, doesn't mean you shouldn't be doing better especially when you look at the quality of players available & strength of schedule.
There was a meeting at some point late season where Gannon was told he had to start being more aggressive with his secondary. To his credit, he listened.

I am not sure I would say it was to his credit....more like job preservation.lol
But I totally agree. It is funny how some people were so ready to scream that Pederson's success was tied to Frank Reich but not think Gannon's was tied to Sirianni. Gannon has done a good job overall except the Washington game where he could not stop their offense. My biggest complaint with him is his inflexibility when things go wrong which is not that often.
