I thoroughly enjoyed that game from beginning to end.
Hurts was special last night and played the exact kind of game I always thought he would excel at. He took care of the ball, like he always does, while not taking unnecessary sacks. He hit a high 83% completion percentage and even connected on a couple of long balls when the opportunity presented itself. Those long balls, hitting the receivers in stride, just were not present last season. The play calling was well balanced too. My only complaint is the illegal receiver downfield penalties. 3 in a single game is inexcusable but just like last week's delay of game penalties, I am confident that they were due to it being early in the season.
The defense was lights out. I have no complaints with maybe having a little more pressure early in the game. That is nitpicking after a stellar performance though.
The only real blemish last night was the blocked FG but even on that play, I have to give credit to Siposs for his touchdown saving tackle.
I am looking forward to seeing if the offense can maintain the production seen in weeks 1 and 2. As was pointed out during the telecast, the Min defense employed a defensive scheme that was ill-suited to stopping what the Eagles were doing and they never made adjustments to counter the Eagles' success. I do not think the Eagles will be so fortunate to run into that situation again.

I do not think the Eagles will be so fortunate to run into that situation again. The penalties are something they're emphasizing this season. In past seasons, they'd let them go a bit. But I'm sure teams will adjust. Just a great game start to finish. Happy to see Gannon is capable of using these guys in the right way. He put them in a position to succeed. Slay should have had like 4 interceptions. He was all over the field all night. Jefferson is going to have nightmares with Slay in them. Did you hear, Jefferson had something planned for the post-game interviews had they won. Take that crap somewhere else! Hurts definitely made a huge step forward last night. Hope this is a sign of more to come. He looked like a bigger, stronger Russell Wilson out there last night. Very happy after last night. Still got work to do but love the direction!

Aside for dumbass penalties, the whole team played an amazing game. Hurts needs to string together two or three more games like this and then we can believe he's for real. His accuracy, field vision and decision making have all dramatically improved and he's got the desire to keep improving no matter how good he gets - let's hope that never changes. He's throwing the ball away and sliding, two things so many running QBs don't learn. The Wentz game should be a lot of fun, especially after seeing the warm welcome Reagor got from the fans, and he didn't pout and quit on the team and the fans.

I'd be insulted that you were so surprised that I was still sitting up and taking nourishment. He's alive indeed - although not doing very well on his vow to swear off football. Just sayin'. If we set up a PA football party - I'm in! I think Lancaster County would be a great central location between Juniata County and Bucks County (NEPM?) and wherever the hell you're from. Can't believe I have to root for Dullass next week.

Then again, rednecks on electric bikes with gun racks keeps you young. We should at least look for a barmaid to impress if a game doesn't work. And, MD, it seems we're becoming Lancaster West with all the Amish relocating - I hear Philadelphians are moving in and pushing them out. I'm ok with that but the roads are messier. I'm getting the feeling this isn't Dream Team Part Deux. The guys Howie added seem to be not only talented, but young and team-first. Sirianni looks to be getting everyone bonding, his coaches look to be good teachers and the players seem to be willing to take instruction. Hurts is just the example of what's building. It'll be interesting to see what happens when he, Smith, Gardner-Johnson and even Watkins are due for new contracts.

Anybody concerned that not a single point was scored in the second half?

Anybody concerned that not a single point was scored in the second half? Let me refer to your avatar. I think the Steichen leaned more to protect the lead than score at will. At least that's the way it looked to me.

I am good for that....Reading is a good waypoint....of course I can visit Lancaster and get some shopping in if you and Z will allow me to cash in on your senior discount capability.....

It must have been an impressive game to get Z to take a break from the bingo hall to stop by and opine and MD to chime in too!
We go to one game a year and tailgate all day and this was the game. Got down there when the lot opened at 1:30 and left about 1:00 AM.
Great day, great game.
While you don’t get the close up TV angles, watching it live you can see routes and coverage a lot better. Hurts played an awesome game. I actually taped and watched the first half later in the week just to see the finer points. He is so smart with the football. He really takes care of it and makes good decisions. Arm strength was not a concern of mine, but field vision, accuracy and long ball accuracy were. He was spot on. An A+ performance, and the decision to spread the ball around will reap dividends. Only two minor nit picks. Twice during the game, there was a receiver who was wide open on a passing play and Hurts didn’t see him. I’m talking half the field to his self wide open. One time it was a RB out of the backfield, the other time it was a WR not named Smith or Brown. However, on both of those plays, he completed passes in the middle of the field in tight windows for gains of more than ten yards so it still was a significant positive play. I hope during tape review he sees the missed 50+ yard plays he left on the field for next game.
It was hard to tell for me. Did it look like MIN was mush rushing? I know they played zone the entire game, which you can’t blame them to limit Hurts scrambling.
I was really impressed with the defense. To me, that was a bigger worry than Hurts going in. They had an awesome game plan. Played man, pressured Cousins enough. It was great to see. Slay took Jefferson’s lunch money and sent him crying to the teacher. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen CB play that good.
Need to fix those STs. Other than Siposs tackling, there weren’t many positives out of that group. The blocking and tackling is all f’d up.
Let’s hope Gannon pressures Wentz into being Wentz. Crowd his picket. Present opportunities for him to fumble the ball in the pocket. Maybe even force a left handed throw near his own goal line? Make Wentz be Wentz. And tell him every chance you get in ear shot, what a loser quitter he is and how he would have lost the QB competition to either Hurts or Foles!!
I’d love to see a blowout, but WAS-PHI games seem to be close. I’ll take a win any way we get it.
It’s been a great week!
