What would you have done?
Anyone?
I was thinking about this a little more.
Davis seems to be a good kid.
Here's my compilation board after #12 when WR Williams went off the board at #12:
5. S Hamilton (5)
13 DT J. Davis
14 OC Linderbaum (3)
15 CB McDuffie (3)
16. ED Johnson (2)
The number afterwards is the number out of my six sources that have that player rated higher than Davis.
At 15, I'm going to get at least 3 out of the 5 on this board as only two of them can go 13 & 14.
We gave up three picks to move up; a 4th (124). two fifths (162 & 166).
I stay at 15, keep the picks and I know I'm getting any of at least 3 of the 5 on my short board.
Here's what I do with those 3 picks, given the players available at those spots the was the draft played out:
#124 -CB T. Woolen UTSA 83rd on the compilation. Was drafted 153rd. If we get McDuffie at 15, then I pick ED K. Enagbare out of South Carolina who was ranked 63rd and was drafted 179th.
#162 Enagbare as above, or OT R. Walker from Penn St., ranked 91st, drafted 249th
#166 Walker or ED D. Robinson out of Miami (OH) ranked 112th drafted 174th.
We got Davis at 13 and gave up the 3 picks.
I would have stayed put and drafted one of the 3 still available out of Davis, Hamilton, Linderbaum, McDuffie, or Johnson. I would have used the three picks on 3 of these 4: CB T. Woolen, ED K. Enagbare, OT R. Walker or ED D. Robinson.
We'll see how it turns out. It's worth watching.
For people hesitant about drafting Linderbaum and sold on Jurgens in the 2nd round, Linderbaum was rated the following spots higher than Jurgens on the 6 sources: 73, 138, 121, 61, 128, 77. That's a solid 2-3 rounds difference.
The biggest reaches of the draft for the top 156 (drafted spot versus compilation ranking):
1. (73 spot reach) EDGE Alex Wright drafted 78th by CLE, ranked 151st.
2. (62 spot reach) WR Velus Jones drafted 71st by CHI, ranked 133rd.
3. (51 spot reach) OC Cam Jurgens drafted 51st by PHI, ranked 108th.
Keep fingers crossed on this one. Eagle draft reaches have a long history of struggling. Hope this one is the outlier.
