I was just going over and catching up on some of the pre-draft offseason moves just to get a feeling if we improved or not.
It was a quiet free agency for the Eagles as compared to most years. Paying the piper for all of the dead money we absorbed for bad deals we've signed handicapped us this year. $36M dead cap hit. Ouch!
Free Agents Acquired (PFF Rank)
EDGE H. Reddick (42nd of 108) 34th best FA
OLB K. White (20th of 87) 108th best FA
WR Z. Pascal (113th 0f 115) Not in top 200 FA
Free Agents Lost
CB S. Nelson (52nd of 116)
FS R. McLeod (43rd of 92)
OLB G. Avery (59th of 87)
DT H. Ridgeway (not ranked)
Resigned Our Own Free Agents
SS A. Harris (53rd of 92)
DE D. Barnett (70th 0f 108)
RB B. Scott (not ranked)
WR G. Ward (not ranked)
White's PFF ranking is very high relative to his FA rank. He's supposedly a very good cover LB but struggles in the running game. Pascal is a bottom tier WR, but even that may be able to keep Reagor from the field. Reddick is a real good signing. He's a tweener, part OLB part Edge rusher. Need to hope Gannon is talented enough to use him.
Losing Nelson and McLeod, half of our starting DB and both playing at an average level will hurt and may result in a set back.
The unsigned FA's look like slim pickings so we just may have to bear it. With a measly 6.4M of cap space left, we may be stuck here. Maybe we can use a 2023 mid round pick to get a player in a position of need.
Overall, FA grade here is a C+
The other big offseason happening was the trade of one of our first round picks to NO for some future picks. Unlike what we heard, Howie lost that trade and we ended up giving away an extra low second round pick in value than we should have.

This drops our offseason down a little.
Call it an overall C for our offseason.
It's not over. Maybe we can pickup some help. I often wonder what talent we can get if we give up a 2023 3rd rounder.

Still a lot of holes at this point in the game.
