They've restructured his contract again this season. Howie is wheelin' and dealin'!

Free agency might be more interesting than I expected.

Interesting, Over the Cap shows the Eagles have gone from cellar dweller to fifth from last in cap space at $10,613,815 ( BGN quotes them as saying they have $16.6 million which doesn't include recent restructures) and Spotrac has them at 24 with $19,582,640. In any event, they're moving in the right direction and I'm guessing they're not done yet. OTC estimates our rookie pool will be $6,928,623. I'm not sure if this means Howie is preparing to add players through FA or trade, but at least they have the space to sign anticipated rookies.

Wow, two deals yields the Eagles $12.2 mil in cap space? I'm glad Howie isn't working for a rival. Linc ...

www.spotrac.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/cap/Plenty of cap room to do whatever we want. I hope they don't trade Bennett. Dude played well. If I have to cut into BG or Barnett or whoever the #2 DT time is to keep Bennett, I do it for sure. There will be injuries regardless and they'll be minutes for everyone in the end, especially with Jernigan gone. I'd bring Long back too as the #4 DE.

Once Bennett got comfortable he was a beast.

I won't be surprised if Nelly is extended next. Despite the rumours that he could be traded? Yep. I think they like him and value him, just not at $9 mil. I have to wonder if any other team wants him at that price either, but he's under contract so I'd guess there are three options: cut, extend or trade. If they cut or trade him they gain $9,387,000 cap. If they extend him they keep a good receiver who's liked by the team, knows the offense and will cost more than a rookie but maybe less than a FA of comparable ability. A trade makes sense only if they have a replacement and are able to get either a talented player in a PON or a decent pick. Why'd they apply the fifth year option if they didn't want him, didn't think they could negotiate an agreeable extension or get equal or better value in return? BTW, why does "rumours" have a squiggly red line under it? I guess you meant "rumors."

It only took a few brits who don't know how to spell six years to find two "yanks" who would lead them to stardom.
