The Eagles have reworked his contract for 2019. Howie's moving on his own guys.

I expected him to be a cap casualty, but the revised deal means that we have some certainty in the secondary. He works well with Jenkins, which is important given our lack of an elite CB.

I wonder where they got the 7.469 M savings from.
The latest has his base salary is 3.0 M guaranteed, and the total is $ 5.25 M, with 1.0 M of that payable if he plays in all 16 games.
Given that an the published details of his old deal, I come up with current year savings of $ 2.1 M.
His old deal called for $9.906 M of cap hit this year, consisting of $ 7.5 M base and $2.406 M of prorated signing bonus and old bonus.
Here's what I come up with:
Savings from removing the Old salary cap hit = $9.906 M Dead Money hit from Old deal ($3.2 M + 1.63M) = ($4.813 M) Plus New Base Salary..........................= ($ 3.0 M ) Current Year Cap Savings......................= $ 2.1 M
There are $2.25 M of bonuses in the contract that are NLTBE based on this year, but may hit next year's cap if he earns them ( 1 M for playing all 16 games plus 1.25 M of other stuff.)
He becomes a free agent a year earlier (after 2019).
Not a bad deal, but I don't see the huge cap savings being advertised, unless they use the voidable years trick.

Details are finally posted on one of the salarycap sites. McLeod signed essentially a one year deal that has a voidable second year. The voidable year allows him to become a free agent and allows us to spread his SB and the unamortized signing bonuses of previous deals. His former 2019 cap hit was 9.906 M. His restructured 2019 cap hit is 4.843 M for a cap savings of 4.563 M When the contract voids next year, there will be a cap hit of almost 3.2 M to remove previous unamortized SB. McLeod gets 1.5 M base, 3.0 M SB, plus 1.0 in per game incentives, for max cash $5.5 M this year. We kicked the can down the road and picked up some much needed cap space this year. overthecap.com/player/rodney-mcleod/1347/
