Forget the fact that we're manufacturing a recession and essentially shutting down the economy over a couple dozen old people dying. It's absolutely horrifying to think of what our sheep population will allow our government to do when an actual, real crisis hits.
The silver lining is about half the country seems to be questioning the hype and hysteria from our despicable media. It will never cease to amaze me how gullible and easily manipulated people are.

Agree the media is the major culprit here. Reason says we need to take any infectious disease outbreak seriously and disseminate information to the public about how to deal with it. The problem is that's not happening nearly to the extent that we're being told how to push the panic button. The suffering from the result of the panic far outweighs what comparative statistics tell us about the potential suffering from the virus.

That's a pretty callous and cavalier way to look at things. If the mighty buck is more important than human decency then I feel sorry for you. Economies recover, death is permanent, and IF we are civilized, our goal should always be to prevent unnecessary deaths, regardless of the cost. This thing spreads fast and the measures taken by private entities are just a prudent way to limit social contact that could make it worse. It is not about the end of the world, and I really don't see that in the media, but the fear that this could spike so severely that it overwhelms our health care system is very real. What is needed now, all across the country, is mitigation, limiting contact with strangers for the next month or two is the smartest thing we can do. Anyone who predicts that this is nothing is in direct opposition to every epidemiologist I have seen commenting on this, it is new, virulent, and spreading. Going over board and hoarding is American nature, happens all the time, and that too will mitigate in a week or so. But suggesting this is some kind of political hit job, or a manufactured crisis is likely going to bite a few people in the a$$, because I'm fairly certain this will get worse before it gets better. And where did I get that? Anthony Fauci, our most experienced expert in the field.

And where did I get that? Anthony Fauci, our most experienced expert in the field. Thanks for proving my headline correct. Since you're late to the party I assume you were out buying toilet paper, but I proved in other threads that this is indeed a politically motivated, manufactured crisis, by comparing that to the non-reaction during the Swine Flu outbreak during Obama's first few months in office. Spare me your holier-than-thou BS, you don't give a rat's ass about the thousands of elderly who die each year from the flu. I'm simply saying that we shouldn't shut down our entire nation over a few dozen old people dying, which anyone rational should agree with. It's also fascinating how the level of hysteria is falling along political lines. Left-wing sheep who want govt. control over everyone's lives are panicking, fighting each other at grocery stores, and demanding martial law to prevent "the end of the world." Right-wingers are generally wondering why the hell people are panicking over an obvious non-issue, and cautioning against giving up our freedoms and livelihoods over some media hype. It's pathetic.

Yeah, those billionaire owners of MLB, NBA, and NHL teams are such left wing types, that they sacrificed tens of millions in revenue because this is politically motivated. You call Americans sheep, I call the ones that believe that the lying sack of Shit in the WH gives a rat's ass about this country the real sheep. He had a chance two months ago to get a testing system set up when he was warned by the EXPERTS, but the stable genius thought it would be bad optics. Anyone who has to tell you how great he is, every time he opens his mouth no less, is not great at all, he is a paranoid narcissist who can't take any responsibility for his mistakes. He acts tough, then cries like a baby about how mean the press and the dems are to him, even as he throws insults out over the web all the time. He's rung up millions in revenue at his resorts and hotels, from YOU, ME, and all other taxpayers, but that is OK, right? He plays on your fears and stokes your anger, and like Pavlovian dogs, conservatives lap up his BS. The reason this is so screwed up is because their is no leadership in the WH, just a guy trying to figure out who else he can blame this time. "I take no responsibility at all," is something that will haunt him and the GOP who he has turned into a bunch of sycophantic sheep. Oh, and BTW, more than half of those hospitalized in France with Coronavirus are under 60, not just 80 year olds dying. And I still think your comment about a couple of dozen old people dying is a disgusting thing to say, and you did it twice! It just shows a distinct lack of sympathy or empathy, kind of like your hero. You appear to have as limited of a grasp on reality as your fellow Trumpists.

The reason this is so screwed up is because their is no leadership in the WH, just a guy trying to figure out who else he can blame this time. Dem Governors on the West Coast banned gatherings of a certain number for the specific purpose of halting sporting events and travel. Sports leagues were forced to comply, as you can't really continue to play a full schedule with several cities no longer allowed to host games. Since sports leagues are essentially tax-free monopolies and want to stay that way, nobody spoke out, as they know who butters their bread. And yes, these leagues promote left-wing causes all the time - hell, the NBA may as well be owned by China. Why are we talking about this? Because left-wing sheep are panicking over a hoax. I'm fine buddy - I'm trying to bring some sense to others. Don't project your issues onto me. Trump's initial response was spot on. Yet his hand was forced once governors started shutting down our economy, and he had to declare an emergency for political reasons. Still, I'm pissed off at him for not doing more to calm people down, at least not forcefully enough. This whole thing is ridiculous.
