Was never a big Spags fan.
Seems like a good guy, but his track record on defense is spotty.
The one year with NYG, the defense was doing really bad, but then became great and they won the SB.
Other than that, not so much as I remember.

His record against Brady is pretty good, isn't it? That was my first reaction. Go after Brady with this hire. Unfortunately, it will still come down to clock management and play calling. JJ was a much better DC than Spags and it didn't get Reid anywhere.

If I remember right, Spags had that one good year with the Giants and that was it. Also, that year the Giants had a ton of talent on defense.

Well, he DID end the Pats' 19-0 bid to win a ring, and helped the Giants to a 12-4 record the next year. He's a pretty standard example of 'great coordinator, terrible HC'
