This is the second year in a row that this is a legitimate question ... about a HOF LT! He still has value as a player and as a team leader, but considering the Eagles' cap dilemma, at what price? He's set to make $10,666,668 and the team would save $8,000,000 by releasing or trading him. Here ... If he stays another year he can help usher in a new LT, either Mailata or potentially a draft pick? That would be ideal, him starting and the kid coming in when Peters' is out with an injury. He's still better than most LTs, but he can't stay healthy any more and another year won't improve that. The alternative is to have Big V in that place keeper roll - I'd rather it be Peters. I doubt he'll take a pay cut and the Eagles may not even want to suggest it. He's a proud man, so the alternatives are probably either releasing him, keeping him or offering him a job replacing Chung - hell, honor his contract except as a coach not a player.

I’d offer him an incentive laden contract with a max amount of about $6M if he hits all of them with a floor or f about $3M if he doesn’t play a snap. With him having a bad year, most of his incentives will be unlikely that he earned which will push any cap hit interest next year. He was overpaid for what he did this year and if he doesn’t accept the deal, shake hands and wish him the best.

All things must come to an end. Thank you Peters, you deserve the HOF. Wish you the best.

He's only middle of the pack pay-wise for a starting LT. He's worth at least that on this team, which is looking for a ring next year. Big V had played well enough to be trusted, but I'd still want JP out there. V had shown he can come in cold and be effective. Give the big Aussie another year to grow. We have the cap room for JP as is.
