I love DP overall, and since he got us a ring as far as I'm concerned he can stay here forever. But I've also maintained that, like his portly mentor, he calls much better games when dealing with a talented backup QB - as opposed to constantly putting extra pressure on his star starter.
You're at home, completely dominating an 0-3 team. You're in long field goal range with a 4th and 5. Punt the damn ball and pin them, and make them go the length of the field. Or try the field goal, Elliott has earned your trust and you're not kicking into the wind. Instead, you hand them the ball with great field position, and give them a chance to get back in the game.
Fortunately, Adam Gase is just as determined to whiz the game down his leg. They drive 30 yards or so, and have a similar 4th down - but into the wind with a 55 yard field goal they go? Following his atrocious play call last 4th down, leading to a defensive touchdown?
Point being, that crap is really going to bite us against good teams with good coaches. As for today, we can relax and enjoy an easy win.

So I agree with not trying a FG from there. I asked the same question until I heard that. I wouldn't have complained had they punted but I didn't have much of a problem going for it in that situation.
