www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/So after all of the fretting at the beginning of the NFL cap year, the Eagles now have the 8th most available cap space in the league. Looking ahead, projected 2020 has us at 25th and projected 2021 has us at 30th, so possible challenges down the road, but we have the room we need to operate freely this year. Not bad Howie, not bad!

And this is the reason I never fret over the cap like some of the people around here. They know a lot more about it than we do...

So who's in the frame to be extended and use up some of the room?

It amazes me, the mystique about the cap. With the ability to carry over unused cap to the next year, it is really just simple math. The "big" trick is converting high salary into new signing bonus to defer cap use and provide more available cap room in the current year. Howies been doing that the last few years.

Seeing how efficiently Howie has handled the GM job since regaining his position I get more and more impressed. I would bet he has a cap strategy already worked out for the next 3-5 years. In this league cap manipulation is almost as important as talent evaluation and I'm pretty sure he is close to the best in the league. I have no worries about that end at this point. He, from a value standpoint, played the Wentz extension perfectly, making it more expensive for the rams, boys, and the chiefs to sign their young QBs.
