wow!
to do it a week before the season, he needs to have a real good reason to do that to his team and coaches.
crazy!

His reasoning is correct - if he's no longer enjoying playing and is fed up with injuries and rehab, then he's better off getting out.
However his timing is poor unless he was waiting to see how Brissett was playing to ensure that he wasn't letting the team down.

That's a decision you make after the season, unless you cannot physically play.
He's the franchise, being paid top dollar, not some player of lesser importance.
With that comes a greater responsibility to your team than to announce it a week before the season.

Unless something serious happened we're not being told about, you have to let the team know so they can prepare.

A lot of people think Carson is the next Andrew Luck and I hope they're wrong
I've heard him called Carson Luck and Andrew Wentz ever since the retirement announcement. The worst part is you can't deny Wentz is headed in that trajectory. 4th highest paid QB in the league, zero playoff games. We took a massive risk.
If Wentz doesn't finish this season we fucked ourselves for the next few years.

Wentz has a more than capable oline to block for him. Luck got what he was given and paid a physical price, that's on the Colts, not him.
Wentz has will have to transition into more of a traditional QB in an effort to stay healthy, he should have good protection & less reason to take unnecessary risks outside the pocket.

I know what you mean when you say that Wentz has played zero play off games, but it was his MVP calibre season that got us to the playoffs when we won the SuperBowl.
That is the form that justifies his deal, regardless of the injury risk that every player faces.

Can we please stop insisting Wentz is injury-prone? He played the whole first season. He was ok. He got a FREAK injury to his knee and they rushed him back, which contributed to his back injury. How about wait and see before constantly saying he's injury-prone.
You know Foles got injured when he played here, too right? It happens. It's still a contact sport. People still get injured. But, when they have a freak injury like he did, I don't look too deeply into it.

I hope he turns it around with the injuries.
I heard the other week, that he's had different injuries (5?) that caused him to miss games since he became a college starter and those injuries caused him to miss over 30% of the games. That's a lot of different injuries in only a few years. Some people's bones and tendons are able to absorb more force than others are. And looking at the two most recent injuries, if they occurred earlier in the years, that 30+% would have been much higher. It's the frequency of those that concern me.
Hoping the trend changes this year.
We need him to be healthy and stay healthy.
