I heard a few decent ideas recently about how to revive the preseason.
One was for the NFL to go to more controlled scrimmages like we are doing this week with BAL and TELEVISE them at night.
The other was to allow teams to keep a 75 man roster until after week two, with a 22 man reserve list and then after week 2 having the cutdown day which would provide a huge informed waiver and trade flurry at that time.
Seemed like some worthy ideas.
I’d love To watch the scrimmages.

Revive? That means it was once popular right? I don't ever remember preseasons games being all that popular.
No matter what they do, they'll still be a glorified practice. Some people will enjoy it and others (like myself) won't care about them all that much. I don't see anything them doing changing too many peoples' minds.

All I care about in pre-season is avoiding injuries.

All I care about in pre-season is avoiding injuries. Exactly. It's a shame but that's what preseason has become more about than anything. Look at Jacksonville. Foles hasn't played a snap in preseason yet. Brand new team. Brand new coaches. Brand new system. They aren't doing him any favors down here. They got him nobody to protect him, nobody to throw to and now they're not playing him. Hate to see them doing this to him.

I used to like The preseason even in the days where starters played a few series game one, a quarter game two, a half game three and none game four. I liked following the roster predictions based on what I saw. Why? Because it was football, at least when the starters were in there, and backups trying to make the team in the other times Not now.

I would cut it to three games, because in this case I think a little less would be a lot more. I would allow teams playing each other to make halftime trades that are announced at the beginning of the third quarter. I would find a way to factor the preseason into the tiebreaker formula so it has at least a little more relevance.

I understand why some people enjoy watching everything play out. I'm just not one of those guys. Unless I'm at a game I literally watch zero minutes of preseason. Just don't care. I'd rather wait until the roster is set so I can start to get behind guys who will be there rather than guys who maybe won't even be in the league after they're cut. I don't see them doing anything to preseason to get people like myself to ever care about it other than keeping people healthy.
