I've heard a lot of discussion about how much the starters will play versus how much they SHOULD play.
If I were King for the day,I would play this team's starters more than most would.
My reasoning comes down to a few things:
1. Most NFL training camps are a joke and the Eagles' is funnier than most. NFL seasons are not. The only way from going from joke to mayhem is to prepare and get used to the speed of the game. They don't play game four, so you only have the first three games to get your body and mind used to NFL game mayhem.
2. I'm sensing this team may be full of themselves, thanks to all of our platitudes, they run the risk of reading their press clippings.
3. Prior history shows we weren't ready out of camp last year. Sure, some of it was Super Bowl hangover, but maybe some of it was camp kickback.
For these reasons, I play all starters 2-3 series depending how they look in Game 1, a little more than a quarter in game two, and at least one series into the second half in game three.
Set the tone now Doug. You demand effort, hustle and execution and it starts tomorrow!

In the case of Wentz, I would respectfully disagree. You already know what you've got in him, so I would bubblewrap him except for maybe a series or two in preseason game three. Otherwise, I would take a long hard look at Sudfield.

They're glorified practices, that's it. We know certain people can play at a high level. Don't risk getting them injured in meaningless games if you can help it. Work more with what you don't know you've got.
