I never miss a chance to bash Reid, but this is kinda lame. Colleges recruit the largest, fastest, most violent people they can find to play the game - the best of them end up in the NFL. Half of these guys would be in jail if not for football. A lot of Eagles fans were crying to sign Reuben Foster and Kareem Hunt not too long ago.
Bottom line is - don't get caught. Until you do, we cheer for you.

100% hankey.
Reid bought the dog killer to the Eagles which never sat well with me as well as many others & I was glad when he was finally gone but I'm not going to sit here & pretend I didn't cheer the team on during that period & enjoy a lot of his play.
Andy is no more evil than most involved in pro sport, the standout players can always get away with more than most & we only ever hear about a fraction of what really goes on. That article comes across as a revenge piece, he must have really pissed that guy off back in the day.

Interesting article.
That public criticism of David Akers and that "Stacy Andrews Day" bullshit when they let Dawkins go showed a side of Reid that was hidden to many. Hollis is not the only the only player with gripes about Reid outright lying.
He always hid behind his "I've gotta do a better job" and " I have to put my players in position to succeed" canned bullshit cloakes. He really never answered anything and the media never was persistent enough during those press conferences to force him to answer anything for fear of being cut off from any answers he may give them in private off the record.
I was one of those in the 200 level of the Linc that day vs the Patriots and one of the first to chime in on the "Fi Yer An Dee" chants that day in 2012. The chant was deafening.
I had the back page of the Daily News headline the day he got canned, but nobody asked me.:
" HE NEEDED TO DO A BETTER JOB"
You reap what you sow.
It would have fit like a glove.

In all fairness, Cataldi is a big time Reid hater (maybe that's why I like his show ). Howard Eskin totally sold out to Reid in exchange for access, with some whispers that their deal included no access to Angelo. So basically, Cataldi is right for the wrong reasons.

I am sorry but I have to laugh at some of the naivete. Ried is not unique here. These coaches are in the business to win and honor among organizations is a matter of degrees. There is not a single coach/GM who will just drop their best players unless forced to do so at gunpoint. They are all singing for their supper so you can bet their interests are self serving ay all times. To singke out Reid is just silly. What about Harbaugh....no video of Rice and he is still a Raven. There are so many stories about bad behavior on pro teams that you never even hear about...it is just life.

I also never knew about Hollis Thomas being guaranteed that, and then being betrayed right after. He clearly doesn't like Reid much while he worships JJ - I just never knew there was such a solid reason for it.
That's consistent with #5 being assured he would be the 2010 QB as late as April 1st, 2010 - then of course, he was traded to a division rival on Easter Sunday 3 days later. April Fool's!
Reid is a soft-spoken Mormon, so everyone just assumes he's a good guy. And I'm not saying he's a terrible person either - but clearly, this is a case of a mostly fawning national media creating a persona that clearly isn't accurate.

Lest we forget that for each Hollis Thomas story there are plenty of former players who love him like Dawk and even Trot. He may not be an angel, none are, but most of his former players say nothing but good things about him as a man.

Under the incredible pressure of highly competitive professional sports, superior athletes are known to shake even the most of a principled moralist.
Make no mistake that the only thing that upsets a coach, a sports organization as a whole, and even the fanbase, is the PR nightmare of such athletes on the team getting caught being amoral assholes. Until then, the amorality of said asshole is immaterial, except for the recruitment brochure.

Lest we forget that for each Hollis Thomas story there are plenty of former players who love him like Dawk and even Trot. He may not be an angel, none are, but most of his former players say nothing but good things about him as a man. Most of his players clearly like him as a person, and he's always come across as a players coach. Criticisms seem to always revolve around employment status and game management. More than a couple defensive players over the years (including Trot/Hollis/Hugh) have said they wished he would give them a rest by running the ball and eating some clock. He's clearly mishandled some personnel decisions that have been discussed - I doubt Hollis/McNabb/others have appreciated being assured of their position days before getting axed. Bottom line related to the subject is, all coaches care about is players not getting caught. When players do, you have to have a keen sense of PR and cut them. Cataldi doesn't have the basis to write this article if Hill was cut after that audio came out - he's already a dead man walking in the NFL, why drag this out? Cut his ass, make a PR statement, and accept that you got hosed by a great player getting his dumb ass in serious trouble.
