they are saying that we signed 15 undrafted free agents, plus some rookie camp participants.
I took a look and basically, seven of the UDFA plus all of the rookie camp participants are just camp fodder.
The top nine UDFAs: keep in mind, 256 players are drafted. The ratings sites that I use that rate the most prospects are CBS 539, NFzl.com 467, Draftek 400 and ESPN 374. So if the guys don't make any of these lists, they're deep in the depth charts of the prospects.
1. TJ. Edwards ILB - ranked 134 in my compilation, 130 by CBS, 156 by ESPN, 158 by NFL.com, 168 by Draftek. Overall, he had a 4th round projection, and was the 6th highest rated ILB. Real good pickup at a PON.
2. Ryan Bates, OG/OT - ranked 207 in my compilation and the 11th best OG. Ranked 144 by ESPN, 263 by CBS, 305 by Draftek, and 317 by NFL. Com . This is the local kid from our CYO region. Went to the same grade school as OT McGlinchey, last year's1st round pick of SF. Played well against the best pass rushers of the Big 10.
3. Nate Herbig OG- ranked 150 by ESPN, 201 by CBS, 214 by Draftek and 363 by ESPN. Highly rated OG UDFA.
4. Delvin Randall S- from Temple. Ranked 236 by Draftek, 348 CBS, 356 ESPN, and 373 by NFL.com. Let's see what he has at a high priority depth spot
5. Iosua Opeta OG - ranked 344 from ESPN, 350 by NFL.com, 358 by CBS, and 453 by Draftek. This guy must have been a highly demanded. He gets a 25K signing bonus plus 55K guarantee. We only get $100M to spend on all signing bonuses.
Three of the top five are OG. I guess they are stocking up for Brooks coverage.
The other four:
6. Joey Alfieri , OLB
7. Anthony Rush DT
8. Kevin Wilkins DT
9. Keegan Render OG
keep an eye out for news on these guys this spring and summer.
