Just been on NFL.com where they gave q uick snap grades to every team's draft. Slightly absurd grades when 21 teams get A overall, 9 get B and just two get C. That doesn't invalidate the exercise though. There is the usual caveat that we can only really know after a couple of seasons but let's see what are the initial reactions are to our draft. Have we addressed needs, built for the future or ignored weaknesses? For me it's a solid B overall. Sanders and Arcega-Whiteside will be situational players this season and play a bigger role in future years. Dillard gives us a cover this year for Peters who he will replace next year ensuring continuity on the OL. Miller and the trade for Ridgeway should provide depth. Thorson is a project. On the other hand we look shallow at C and LB.

I always struggle with this and W-L projections. I have a hard time separating emotion from sound analysis. It also seems like one man's Ferrari is another's Kia.
Scheme and personality fit can make a huge difference when we're talking about a contending team and it sounds to me like the Eagles got straight A's in the personality part and what appears to be a solid B+ in scheme fit. I'm not sure JAW is what we expected for the offense, but he should (eventually) make the RZ offense better and that was identified as a need by the team.
So applying the Optimystic bell curve, I'd say they get an A. Peters replacement should be able to contribute this year, Sanders joining the committee should contribute and produce immediately and JAW should see playing time on ST and in goal line packages. On a solid SB contending team without critical holes before the draft, I'd say that is pretty good.
And we can't forget that Howie may not be done. There could still be a trade or FA signing or two. We did good.

I say in the B category. Not sure if there's a plus or minus attached yet.
My normal detailed pick by pick analysis will follow later today.
I too agree with the absurd grading of some sites.
C is average people! Many don't give anything below C. They must be a bunch of Phils public school teachers. Just pass these GMs through to the next year!

C
Rarely do I complain about a draft - I just want to see if certain needs are addressed, and then wait and see how the summer goes.
I was against drafting a RB anyway, but to be honest I forgot we signed Jordan Howard!!! Why in the blue fuck would you draft a RB in the 2nd?! Look at our freaking RB depth chart! Just because it's Barkley's teammate don't mean it's Barkley!
I'll say it again - a QB in the 5th round?!?!!?!
Apart from QB and TE, one position we sure as hell didn't need to address was DE. Yet that's the only player they took on defense. No LB help, and I have no clue why.
I felt like a 10 year old playing Madden did this draft - except for the obvious fact that we addressed a critical need at OL in the 1st round, and for that reason I give a C instead of an F.

Could well turn out we are ok at LB, got plenty of bodies at that position already & if Howie etc couldn't see anyone available that would improve the team, well you use the pick on a player you think will help us improve.
The Offence is where the main focus is so In Howie We Trust.
