The Eagles are limiting true FA signings, signing older players to short team-friendly contracts and they're moving money to create cap space. It sounds strange that they're creating cap space and not using it, but when you think about it they not only have a biggie to take care of with Wentz, but any unused cap can be carried over. I'm interested in how our resident number gurus work this out. How much cap will Wentz's contract eat, when do they do it and how does that current can-down-the-road strategy affect FA next year and beyond? Linc ... Right now, OTC shows us having $30,632,712 in cap space for 2020. If they add another $15 mil as a carryover they'll be close to $45 mil. Note the Cowboys are currently favorites to win the 2020 cap Super Bowl with $117,064,501. True, they have both Elliot and Prescott to consider, but still that's a lot of cap space.

Whats the estimate on the Wentz contract? Will he, to some degree, take a team friendly deal to keep the Eagles competitive? Will he get through the season injury free? & if he spends time on the bench again, where does that leave the deal?
Howie doing the right thing in getting prepared but there's still a bit of water to go under the bridge yet.

I suspect Wentz will be near the top of the market, if not the new benchmark, simply because it'll be a five year deal that will leave him in mid-table for the final two years with the way that QB salary inflation is going.

And I wonder if Jeffrey takes a note from his horny razor friend from New England and finds creative ways of paying his QB.

Yes, have Wentz wife be the major income earner and give Lurie a $8M - $10 M discount per year for 10 years !
That's a huge competitive advantage for a team that has nothing to do with strategy or talent evaluation.
It's a big part of their success.
